Matthew Levin, Director of Hotels, and Erick Anderson, General Manager for the Bay View Collection, presented a check this month to PAWS Animal Adoption Center in Camden, Maine. Representing PAWS to receive the check were Ree McCarthy, Board Member and Volunteer, and Animal Attendants, Sarah Powell, Tegan Simmons, and Kayleigh Bernier. The donation of $1,225 is in support of the organization’s mission which is to provide care for homeless dogs and cats until they can be placed in permanent, responsible homes while promoting humane values in the local community through outreach and educational programs. Lord Camden Inn is a dog friendly hotel, as is all of the Bay View Collection properties.
The donation was a result of our ongoing Great Rates for a Great Cause campaign. Guests who choose to participate receive a 50% discount off their two or more-night stay, and in exchange for this great discount, pledge to donate at least $40/night to PAWS. This offer began in early November, 2022 and will continue through April 30th, 2023. PAWS is just one of several local charitable organizations that the Bay View Collection is raising money for this year. At Grand Harbor Inn we’re offering a similar discount to guests in support of Finding Our Voices, a local domestic violence awareness organization, and at 16 Bay View, we’re supporting NAMI Maine, an organization that offers awareness and support for mental illness and suicide prevention.
“I am so happy to see how much we have raised in such a short period of time with our Great Rates for a Great Cause campaigns,” says Matthew Levin. “I have a renewed faith in people by the kind and giving nature of our guests who are willing and able to visit Camden and contribute to this worthwhile initiative and such a great organization”, Levin further stated.
Erick Anderson, General Manager of Lord Camden Inn believes “the amount raised so far in just a few short months this season is such a wonderful indicator of the love that our guests have towards such programs that PAWS offers.” He added that:
“The Bay View Collection hotels have long been known for our love of pets. The Inn has been welcoming furry friends since 1984 when Marianne and Stuart first opened its doors. I was so happy to see the team choose PAWS as our supporting Great Cause recipient this season and it pairs purr-fectly.”
Shelly Butler, PAWS Executive Director stated, “PAWS is extremely grateful for the support from both the staff of Lord Camden Inn and of the generosity from their guests. This donation means that more support is available to homeless pets and to pet owners in need of the supportive services we offer. We cannot thank you enough!”
